Perito Moreno Glacier

The Perito Moreno Glacier is located in the Glaciares National Park and is one of the world's few advancing glaciers.

It is about 2 miles (3 km.) wide, 8 miles (12 km) long and 200 feet (60 Mt.) high at its terminal point in front of Los Témpanos Channel. (The Channel of the Icebergs).

This breathtaking glacier can be observed from a series of catwalks and vantage points on the Peninsula de Magallanes. Until a few years ago, visitors could walk down to the shores of Los Témpanos Channel but this is no longer possible because of the danger of falling icebergs and the shrapnel like debris which can reach the speed of a bullet.
