Mountain Gorillas survive only in the Volcanos National Park in the Virunga volcanic region that sprawls northern Rwanda, southern Uganda and the northeastern part of the D.R. Congo. The DNA of a gorilla is said to be 97% identical to that of human beings. That would seem to explain the numerous behavioral and trait similarities that an observer can recognize in them.Visiting a gorilla family is one of the most exciting experiences I can think of. Hopefully these pictures will convey some of the feeling and emotions we experienced.

Rwanda is a small. beatiful and fertile country in the very heart of Africa. Today's population lived through and survived the genocide of 1994,

  These images are intended as a tribute to that country, to its courageous citizens and to its unique natural heritage.
